General Meeting & Los Angeles WarDrive-In 2.0
This was not only the General Meeting, but the Second Annual Los Angeles WarDrive-In, too!
We did not have a formal presentation this meeting. Frank and Mike gave an overview of the plan for the night and introduced plans for the Los Angeles Area Wireless Research Network.
During the sit-down portion of the meeting, all present asked and fielded questions. Plenty of good questions!
Some people brought their goodies and wireless projects…
- Many, many laptops with wireless (really!)
- iPaq with built-in wifi
- iPaq running 3G cellular internet
- iPaq running AirMagnet
- T-Mobile Sidekick/HipTop
- Ericson & Samsung phones
- Sprint connected laptop
- Hotspot hardware
- Home-made Cantenna
- and more!
Lots of great wares in the parking lot, too!
- 6 SUVs piled high with “gear”
- GPS navigation systems
- Automatic Position Reporting System - APRS
- War Driving with:
Kismet, Netstumbler, Ministumbler, AirMagnet - GMRS radio setups
- HAM radio setups
- Hard-mounted equipment
- Temporary-mount equipment
- Antennas galore - the winner of most antennas had 6 antennas on his roof, counting the FM radio.
This was a great time to discuss automotive computer setups, antennas, info-fueling, wireless security, war driving, automotive cable management, inverters, RF amplifiers, two way radio, GPS tracking technology and navigation.
Special Thanks to the following:
- LPBN for providing video archive and live streaming
- Pasadena IHOP and their big meeting room and parking lot
Where the elite meet to greet the man on the street & eat treats on their feet with wireless on their bucket seats.
